China’s First Large Cruise Ship ‘Adora Magic City’ Officially Berths at Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.

On December 15th, the domestically produced first large cruise ship, named “Adora Magic City,” adorned with the “Dunhuang Feitian Color Ribbon,” successfully completed its 5-year design and construction journey. It gracefully departed from the No. 4 dock of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, en route to her inaugural homeport—Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Baoshan, Shanghai. This marks the commencement of a new operational journey, signifying a fresh chapter for the Chinese cruise industry.

At 1:30 PM, the formal operation for the relocation of “Adora Magic City” commenced. With meticulous coordination from various port units and careful control and maintenance, after approximately two hours of smooth sailing, “Adora Magic City” arrived at her homeport at 3:40 PM, smoothly docking at the designated berth in a safe manner.

As the operational homeport for the domestically produced first large cruise ship, Shanghai Baoshan Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal officially opened in 2011 and once achieved the myth of being Asia’s top cruise port for three consecutive years and the world’s fourth-largest cruise port in five years. It serves as a crucial functional gateway for Shanghai’s vigorous development of the cruise economy, the accelerated construction of a cruise hub, and the promotion of the development of China’s coastal cruise industry.

The collaboration and partnership between “Adora Magic City” and Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal will further drive the construction and development of the local cruise-related industry chain. It will also expedite the deepening of strategic goals such as innovation in cruise tourism systems, international cooperation, port coordination, and the entire cruise industry chain, aiming to establish China’s own cruise brand.

Currently, nearly 1,300 crew members from around the world aboard “Adora Magic City” have completed their assembly, and preparations for various operational aspects are in the final sprint stage. On New Year’s Day 2024, “Adora Magic City” will set sail grandly from Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, carrying visitors from all directions. The dream of Chinese people boarding a domestically produced large cruise ship to explore the world is about to come true.

In the eastern horizon, the pearl shines brightly. “Adora Magic City” will join hands with Wusongkou Cruise Terminal, creating a new narrative for the magic city’s maritime journey and contributing to the magnificent vision of “making life better.”.
