Adora Flora City (爱达·花城号), China’s second domestically built large cruise ship, is scheduled to begin its maiden passenger voyage from Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port on November 22, 2026. The six-day, five-night sailing will visit Hong Kong and Chan May, the Vietnamese port serving Hue.

The sailing date is separate from the vessel’s planned delivery on November 6. Adora Cruises reaffirmed both milestones in its October 1 operational update, as crew moved aboard ahead of the ship’s entry into service.

Crew preparations move into the final stage

Nearly 600 crew members joined the ship on October 1, including its captain, chief engineer and hotel director. Adora said the first group covers deck, engineering and hotel operations, with further arrivals expected before the inaugural sailing. The planned complement is approximately 1,300 crew.

The preparation programme includes equipment acceptance, facility checks, passenger-flow reviews and service rehearsals, alongside training in maritime regulations, safety and the new ship’s facilities. These are pre-opening activities; the November maiden voyage remains a scheduled event, not a completed sailing.

Guangzhou debut with a regional cultural programme

Adora’s August announcement set out an opening-night performance programme developed with Guangzhou Culture Group and five professional arts organisations. Acrobatics, Cantonese opera, puppetry, music and dance are among the planned performances, bringing the homeport city’s cultural traditions into the inaugural cruise.

Olympic diving champion Guo Jingjing is due to serve as the ship’s naming ambassador and formally name the vessel at the maiden-voyage ceremony in Nansha.

A new large ship for South China

Built at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, Adora Flora City measures 341 metres in length and 141,900 gross tons. The ship has 2,130 guest rooms and suites, with capacity for up to 5,232 passengers, according to the operator and China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

Its Guangzhou deployment will add a new large-ship option for travellers in South China and the Greater Bay Area. For the cruise trade, the next milestones to watch are the November 6 handover and the November 22 passenger departure, rather than treating delivery and commercial sailing as the same event.

This report follows our earlier coverage of the ship’s construction progress. Dates and itinerary details reflect the published schedule and remain subject to operational changes.
