Today, Adora Cruises officially announced the launch of a new art musical on its first domestically produced large cruise ship, titled “Marco Polo – Silk Road Romance.” The musical combines elements of love, adventure, history, and culture, presenting a fresh interpretation of Marco Polo’s romantic story along the Silk Road, allowing guests to travel through time and appreciate the classic charm of the Silk Road civilization.
Adora Cruises’ new art musical, “Marco Polo – Silk Road Romance,” is adapted from Marco Polo’s travelogue, narrating the extraordinary tale of the 13th-century Italian merchant Marco Polo’s journey from the Mediterranean through the Eurasian continent. It recounts his challenging adventures and the romantic connection with a Chinese princess. Set against the backdrop of the cultures and arts of countries along the Silk Road, the musical weaves the protagonist’s love story with elements of folk songs, dance, music, and history. Through magnificent music, visuals, and dynamic performances, it aims to convey the collision and integration of Eastern and Western civilizations, creating a diverse and integrated viewing experience for Chinese guests.
The musical is co-designed and presented by Adora Cruises and the internationally renowned entertainment company Selection. By infusing international production techniques into local cultural creativity, the collaboration explores original cultural and travel plays more suitable for Chinese consumers. Adora Cruises hopes that “Marco Polo – Silk Road Romance” will tell the story of Silk Road history, elevate cultural confidence through innovative artistic works, and interpret the essence of the times.
Adora Cruises, blending diverse elements of the world and Chinese culture, provides a high-end cruise vacation experience in dimensions such as cuisine, entertainment, shopping, and space. The debut of the “Silk Road” themed musical on Adora Cruises marks a cross-boundary collaboration between “cruise + the arts,” aiming to create a more vivid maritime cultural and travel experience for passengers amidst the exciting entertainment on board.
Adora Cruises’ first domestically produced large cruise ship, announced earlier, is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2023, with a total tonnage of 135,500 tons, accommodating 5,246 passengers, and featuring 2,125 rooms. Meanwhile, the design and construction phase has officially begun for their second domestically produced large cruise ship.
